Research on Mangosteen for Diabetics
This is some research by Dr Kay Davies, who has a PhD in Physiology
ONE WAY MANGOSTEEN REDUCES BLOOD SUGAR FOR DIABETICS
SUMMARY:
Mangosteen has been shown, in a recent laboratory study, to slow the breakdown of starch (carbohydrates) to sugar in the same way as the Diabetic drug, Acarbose (Brand names – Prandase or Precose). Slower breakdown of starch results in less sugar (glucose) in the blood immediately following eating. Additional studies have shown that Mangosteen is retained in the blood for up to 6 hours – maximum effectiveness occurs 1-3 hours after taking Mangosteen.
Thus, Diabetics are recommended to take their Mangosteen 1-3 hours prior to their largest meal, or with this meal. Mangosteen, taken at the correct time will also help non-Diabetics by reducing the extra strain excess sugar puts on the Pancreas. This extra strain on the Pancreas, in time, can lead to Diabetes.
DETAILS:
The Diabetic medication, Acarbose*, works by inhibiting the enzyme (Amylase) that is primarily responsible for the breakdown of Starch to Sugar ( Glucose).
A study** has shown that the one of the Xanthones in the Mangosteen Pericarp works in exactly the same way in our body as Acarbose.
Starch consists of unbranched glucose molecules (Amylose) and branched glucose molecules (Amylopectin). One of the Xanthones in the pericarp of Mangosteen inhibits the enzyme, Amylase. Amylase is inhibited with both Acarbose and Mangosteen, so that the amount of Starch broken down to Sugar from eating is greatly reduced. This means that the sugar level of Diabetics is lessened immediately after a meal. The starch in what was consumed is broken down more slowly over time, after Acarbose and Mangosteen disappear from a person’s blood.
Mangosteen works exactly the same way as Acarbose without any drug side effects.
For Diabetics, the best time to take Mangosteen*** is to take it within 1-3 hrs prior to eating, or with a meal. If a Diabetic is only taking one dose of Mangosteen, they should take their Mangosteen prior to their largest meal.
Non-Diabetics also benefit from taking Mangosteen. This is because diets which contain excess sugar put an unnecessary strain on the Beta cells in the pancreas. Over time, this excess strain has been shown to result in insulin resistance, leading to full blown Diabetes. Taking Mangosteen on a regular basis reduces the amount of sugar in the blood following meals high in carbohydrates and sugars, and thus prevents this strain on the pancreas.
Additional studies **** have shown that Mangosteen is retained in the blood stream for at least 6 hours – maximum effectiveness occurs in the first 1-3 hours.
CONCLUSION
Mangosteen and the drug, Acarbose, both result in the slower breakdown of starch to sugar. This leads to everyone having less sugar in their blood following a meal. Less sugar to deal with means it is easier for Diabetics (and non-Diabetics) to move the sugar present in the blood into their cells – less insulin needs to be released and the sugar level remains closer to normal. Another benefit of taking Mangosteen versus Acarbose is there are no drug side-effects.

One of the healthiest drinks on the market now is the Verve Energy drink. A lot of people especially those with teenagers are debating about whether or not energy drinks are good. There are debates about energy drinks all the time, and a lot of folks, especially older folks are not liking them. We tend to agree, there are good energy drinks and bad energy drinks.
Over the previous 20 years or so, energy drinks have become a substitute for other beverages like tea, chocolate and coffee. For folks in their youth and young adulthood, energy drinks are used for an immediate tonic during lengthy study sessions and hectic work schedules.
They guzzle down energy drinks, hoping they can stay awake longer, while fighting off nausea and light headedness from all the junk food and caffeine-loaded beverages. After awhile, they usually conk out form the heavy sugar crash and miss out on their schedule for the next day.
ENERGY DRINK BUZZ
One industry consulting firm – Beverage Marketing, says that energy drink sales have increased nearly 700% since 2001. In the US domestic market, the sales account for $5.6 billion, so we can see from these figures, energy drinks really are popular.
During 2007, 262 million gallons of energy drinks were drank in the US alone. Energy drinks are also very popular in other countries, many countries within Europe and Australia.
Within an average 8oz energy drink, there is approximately 80mg of caffeine, which is equivalent to a cup of coffee. Some drink companies though, have added up to 300 mg of caffeine to their energy drinks. If an energy drink contains mostly sugar and caffeine, it can be harmful to people. Young people must have some way to help them stay awake most of the night and finish their work or study if they want to.
Good Healthy Ingredients
There is another way for people to get an extra boost of energy and feel really good for hours at a time. Instead of drinking an energy drink that’s loaded with sugar and caffeine, they can have a healthy energy drink and get energy from natural ingredients.
Check the label on the can before purchasing a drink, and look out for nutrients that will give you natural energy boosts. Vitamins are one important nutrient, vitamins A, B, C, and D all support health, and are found in many vegetables and fruit. The body doesn’t store vitamins, so they should be consumed regularly so you don’t have vitamin deficiencies.
Even taking a small dose of vitamins will assist in you feeling good, if you are deficient in one of the vitamins. Most commonly, B1 to B12 will assist in improving the immune system, supporting metabolism and increasing energy levels, which is why B vitamins are often added to energy drinks.
Minerals are also a good nutrient to have in an energy drink. The body often craves for them because it can’t naturally produce plant sourced minerals. Calcium (for bone health), potassium and zinc are just a few minerals that should be taken each day. Because the body requires these minerals, manufacturers of orange juice sometimes add calcium, and iodine is added to table salt. To keep your body running in optimum condition, it needs a wide spectrum of minerals.
Other nutrients to look for are exotic things such as guarana, green tea, taurine and exotic fruits like the Mangosteen. Green tea is well known for it’s high antioxidant content, and so is the Mangosteen fruit. Mangosteen also has other essential nutrients and has restorative properties. The mangosteen pericarp (or rind) has been used in parts of Asia for many years, because of its healing properties.
As you can see, it’s sensible to look at what’s inside the can of an energy drink, before drinking it, so you can drink something healthy and get natural energy, while staying healthy and well. Healthy energy drinks still have the energy blend in addition to the healthy ingredients, so you get the almost instant boost that you’re looking for. The Verve energy drink is extra healthy because it contains a natural energy blend, plus vitamins, minerals, mangosteen, green tea and aloe vera.

I received the following testimonial from a customer who’s been drinking Verve for about one month now. This is exciting news for diabetics.
Donna here with some really great news! Verve has wonderfully lowered my blood sugar levels from the 200’s down to between 92 and 120! It has helped so much that I take much less oral medications for my type 2 diabetes! I was taking 3 different pills to control blood sugar and it was not really doing the job. After I started drinking a can of Verve everyday, my doctor took me off one of the pills, saying that I didn’t need that medicine anymore, as my blood sugar had dropped from 250 to about 143.I continued drinking Verve and found by experimenting a little bit, I didn’t need my nighttime diabetes medication either! It resulted in a lower non-diabetic blood glucose number in the morning of 92! Morning glucose below 110 upon awakening is very good. So now I’m off that medication. I only take one pill now at breakfast and dinner. I’m relieved that I don’t have to take more pills or that dreaded insulin shots, which my doctor wanted to put me on before I started the Verve. It has virtually saved me from taking injections and complications that affect diabetics because of poor blood sugar control even with pills that are supposed to help control it. This stuff is a miracle in a can!

There’s a difference between Internet Marketing and Internet Network Marketing. Internet marketers usually need to market more than one product, so they can earn a full time living. For example, if an internet marketer decided to sell energy drinks online, they would either:
1) Need to find a drop shipper who holds stock and delivers to customers as they order off the site. The internet marketer has to find a way to accept payment, which could mean a large merchant banking fee each month, plus they have to fiddle around with accepting the money and sending the money and details to the drop shipper.
OR
2) Purchase bulk amounts of the product themselves and ship it to people as they order. As you can imagine, this could be a huge job, and also involves merchant bank fees.

On the other hand, a network marketer can market the Verve Energy drink online, and have it shipped directly from the company’s warehouse. The internet network marketer doesn’t see the product and doesn’t see any monetary transactions. The company does all that for them. The network marketing company also handles any returns or complaints from the customer.

Posted on August 4, 2008 on 7:46 pm | In Home Business, internet network marketing | No CommentsVerve Energy drink also contains Essential Minerals
Essential Minerals are the fifth nutrient contained in the Verve Energy drink. Our bodies can’t survive without nature’s essential minerals we should receive from food grown in the soil. Before normal function can take place in our cells, these critical micronutrients are required. Nowadays the soil is severely depleted of minerals, so our bodies cannot get all the minerals required from what we eat. Highly processed food with synthetic ingredients lacks the minerals required for support of vital body functions, energy production, and protection from oxidative damage.
For adequate mineral supplementation, we require high quality plant-sourced ionic minerals in a liquid bioavailable form. The Verve Drink includes the whole spectrum of 65 major, trace and ultra-trace minerals, which gives everything required to your body. For more information about these plant-sourced ionic minerals, plus the 12 full spectrum vitamins, mangosteen whole fruit, aloe and green tea, visit Verve Energy Drink
