Tasted Mangosteen Fruit
June 9, 2009 on 8:24 pm | In mangosteen juice | No Comments
A few days ago, I was at the market and overheard someone say “What are these”? I looked and there was a pile of cute little mangosteens. I purchased a couple for Aussie $1.50 each. They had been imported from Thailand. Here’s a picture of the two of them.

The lady who sold them to me said to cut the mangosteen in half through the center. Silly me! I cut it all the way through, and a bright red juice started pouring out of the fruit. I realized I wasn’t supposed to cut right through. Anyway, at least you can see all the seeds and the pulp of the fruit in this picture.
I cut the second mangosteen properly by stopping the knife when I got to the soft part. One half of the mangosteen just fell off cleanly, and it looks more like all the other pictures of mangosteen.

I took the white part out carefully, and it consisted of tiny little segments (similar to the segments that an orange has). I really can’t tell you what it tasted like though! It was entirely different to any other fruit I had ever tasted.

A delicious taste! I tasted some of the pericarp (the red part you can see in the hollow section) and it wasn’t nice at all. Thank goodness for juices that taste delicious, so we can still get the benefit of the pericarp.
I took a photo of the mangosteen next to a rather large passionfruit, to show you the relative size. This passionfruit is a bit bigger than the average passionfruit.
Healthy Energy Drink gives Energy To Burn
June 6, 2009 on 6:47 am | In healthy energy drink, healthy energydrink | No CommentsAlthough I’ve never been anywhere near a running track competing against other
athletes, I still consider myself as a athelte of some sort.
I have been in the music industry for most of my life as a musician, though I prefer
to think of myself as an entertainer.
During the last three years I have used more energy playing the part of Mick Jagger
(in a tribute band) than I have ever used at any other time in my music career.
When I first thought of portraying “Mick” I didn’t think it would be any big deal,
I could sing like him and felt at ease doing some of his movements, BUT, I found
I was running out of energy after going through just a few songs, how was I
going to do a two and a half hour show?
In order to play the part of Jagger I had to become an athlete just like him, I started
running most days and also practiced singing the Stones songs while running around the house pretending I was on stage.
One day a neighbour came to the front door after I’d been doing my Rolling Stones Tribute show, I had sweat running down my face and looked like I just climbed out of the washing machine.
‘Oh my God!’ she gasped, ‘are You alright? I said I was “fine, never felt better”.
For the last two years I have been drinking a healthy energy drink. When I go to do the Jagger tribute I throw a can of this energy drink in my bag and, 30 minutes before the performance I slam it down.
When we hit the stage I feel so excited and full of energy the audience can sense the
vitallity and ‘it’s Showtime’!
Natural Energy drink – 5 Reasons why Sports People Benefit
May 19, 2009 on 7:09 am | In healthy energydrink, natural energy drink | No CommentsThere are 5 reasons why sports athletes require a healthy natural energy drink to maintain health, keep up your fitness levels, and keep your muscles and joints in optimum condition for your best performance. We outline the 5 necessary nutrients for all committed athletes to keep their bodies in optimal condition.
1) Essential Minerals Necessary for Athletes
The more intensive your exercise, the more you sweat. As you sweat, essential minerals are dissipated from your body through your sweat glands. These minerals must be replaced by supplements because your body cannot manufacture minerals by itself. Otherwise, if you are deficient in certain minerals, you are more likely to contract chronic illness.
2) More Antioxidants Needed
Sports people breathe in huge amounts of oxygen, as they carry out their activities, whether it be swimming, running, jumping, playing basketball, tackling in football, playing soccer, diving or any other sport.
The more oxygen you breathe in, the more free radicals are entering your body at the same time. Free radicals are like the bad guys that can cause chronic diseases and other illnesses you don’t want to get because they will stop you from performing your best. The more of these bad guys enter your body, the more antioxidants you require to counteract them.
Therefore, if you take an energy drink with high levels of antioxidants, you significantly increase your ability to stay healthy.
3) Inflammation in Muscles and Joints
When you put extreme pressure on your muscles and joints, inflammation forms around the muscles and joints. If that inflammation is not controlled, it can cause chronic pain and severe injury. As a sports person, you need to reduce that inflammation as soon as possible so you can continue to practice and to compete in events without weeks of down time. If you take a natural inflammatory every day, this will help to prevent injuries and will assist in faster healing of those injuries that do occur.
4) Extra Energy Required by Athletes
A healthy natural energy drink provides additional energy from a natural Guarana seed extract, so you have additional energy to perform, without feeling the need to take any banned drug substances which will not only disqualify you but will also harm your body in the long run.
5) Safe Methods of Optimizing Your Performance is Required
Olympic sports people and other competitive athletes want to take supplements that pass the stringent drug tests they have to undergo. Therefore, any supplement you take must have been independently tested to ensure you will not be banned from competing.
We have given 5 nutritious reasons for drinking a healthy natural energy drink so your body can get all the nutrients it requires for keeping fit, reduce injuries and illness, and keep you at your competitive best all the all the time.
Energy Drinks can be Dangerous For Teenagers
September 26, 2008 on 1:31 am | In healthy energy drink, healthy energydrink | No CommentsThese days, the desire for a quick fix is causing more problems than it is solving, and it is a good idea to look at drinking a healthy drink rather than one loaded with sugar (which doesn’t give lasting energy). While it might look like we have quick answers to our problems, they are often short-term solutions, which do nothing to fix the situation permanently. Sadly, one of the “quick fixes” that we are becoming increasingly addicted to and which seems to be the favorite of many people is the energy drink. Whether it is Red Bull or Power Horse, energy drinks give us the instant energy boost that we might need at that point in time.
But because of the abundance of these drinks, it is consistently available to teenagers and kids who can buy them for a few bucks each. Unfortunately, research has shown that kids who drink copious amounts of energy drinks are at a risk of exhibiting unruly behaviors and increased violence levels. According to the Journal of American College Health, “Miller and colleagues found that a collection of behaviors known as “toxic jock syndrome” was correlated with high consumption of energy drinks. Toxic jock syndrome includes symptoms such as substance abuse, unprotected sex and violence. With this research proven in different related studies, it is only natural to see that teenagers and frequent energy drink consumption is not a good combination.
So, if you have a teenage son or daughter, try as much as possible to dissuade them from drinking these drinks too frequently and instead teach them to live healthy lives by adopting healthy lifestyles.
Can I Keep Taking Energy Drinks For Increased Stamina?
September 25, 2008 on 1:41 am | In healthy energy drink, healthy energydrink | No CommentsMany times fitness buffs will take energy drinks just to keep them going when training or just to give them the perk they need when they do not feel like training. Energy drinks, which are very common and popular these days as a result of the media exposure they have had and the supposed “miracle” solutions with promises of instant energy and strength, has become the favorite drink of many. Whether it is just for the taste or an instant energy boost, energy drinks are commonly found everywhere. Examples of the popular energy drinks are Monster, RedBull, Rockstar, Power horse, Power Fist, XS, and Go Fast.
While energy drinks are very good for the short-term effects they do provide, it is not good to take them long-term mostly because of their components. One of the very common ingredients found in all energy drinks is caffeine. While some argue that the sugar based energy drinks give a lot more boost, it has been proven that caffeine is the major component responsible for the concentration improvement and hyperactivity. But as with caffeine, an increased usage of these energy drinks will give you diminishing returns and increased dependence on the energy drink. This will cause the exact opposite of the results you are looking for. Most frequent users of energy drinks become addicted to it as a result of the caffeine content available in the drink. So, whatever the reason for taking energy drinks, let them be used as a supplement or support of a healthy lifestyle for balanced results.
That way you will improve or maintain your health and get that energy boost also.
Why are Energy Drinks Useful?
September 20, 2008 on 8:02 pm | In healthy energy drink, healthy energydrink, mangosteen juice | No CommentsIn the quest for increased energy levels, many people have opted for the fast solution that may have minimal benefits but long-term side effects –energy drinks. Energy drinks which are often loaded up with caffeine and sugar among many other ingredients and energy boosting compounds are used to increase the energy levels of individuals who train in the gym or even the ordinary man who just has needs of increasing his stamina and endurance on the job.
For some people, they take energy drinks because of their ability to help them increase their concentration and alertness on the job. Whatever the needs are, energy drinks are good when taken in moderate quantities. But when it becomes the “solution” to tiredness and bodily weaknesses, which are a result of hard work, then there is a problem.
Energy drinks are not meant to keep you awake or to help you keep pushing to the limit. They are meant to give you the increased energy levels that you need so that you can stay a little longer at your task and finish it up. When taken in moderate quantities, there isn’t any likely chance of it becoming dangerous. But when taken in excess quantities, it can cause side effects like irritability, insomnia and tachycardia –increased pulse rate- that are common with excessive coffee intake.
Energy drinks are not meant to provide the one stop solution to frequent tiredness and bodily weakness. One good solution is to take a healthy energy drink with the nutrients your body requires to keep alert and keep your concentration levels up. However, I recommend looking on the label of the can first, to ensure the drink does have the nutrients your body needs.
