Even my local radio station DJ has a twitter account! And, the Prime Minister of Australia just followed me on Twitter! Oprah talks about Twitter on her radio show.

It takes awhile to “Get” Twitter at first, so I’m going to explain.

A Twitter user is similar to a DJ on a radio station.
A radio announcer has an audience following him, and people listen
to him because they like his content.

It’s the same with Twitter – people follow you because they like
you’re content. They want to hear what you’ve got to say.

So how does this relate to you?

If you’re building a business of any kind, having a twitter account
with lots of followers,
is going to help you grow your business.

You will gain credibility initially if you have lots of followers.
The relationship of followers to exact expert knowledge is non
related.

However, having a high amount of followers is what gets people to
follow your account.

Then, it’s up to YOU to provide quality content to prove yourself
to these followers.

If you provide the content, you will gain a loyal following.

Just like the radio announcer – if he continues to provide quality
content, his followers keep listening to him.

Here are some Tips on what to share with your followers.

1. Just be yourself. Be Real [[firstname]]

2. Search for and find relevant information related to the topic of
the account you setup and post snippets with links to your blog
posts,

Like I have done with this post. (It’s better if you share content
you’ve written yourself now and again, but not all the time)

3. Reply to people on your twitter account with quality answers to
their questions. These answers can often be re-tweeted to other people and you get even
more followers.

4. If I find a great quote that I like. I’ll tweet it

5. Tweet about what you are doing if it’s interesting.
For example, if you’re travelling somewhere, people often comment
on that. When we were in Vegas earlier this year, people sent me
messages about the casinos and all sorts of stuff.

If you’re going on a Ski-ing holiday or scuba diving, playing some
kind of sport, and something exciting happened, tweet about that.
It’s a good way for people to get to know you and to brand yourself.
