One of the healthiest drinks on the market now is the Verve Energy drink. A lot of people especially those with teenagers are debating about whether or not energy drinks are good. There are debates about energy drinks all the time, and a lot of folks, especially older folks are not liking them. We tend to agree, there are good energy drinks and bad energy drinks.
Over the previous 20 years or so, energy drinks have become a substitute for other beverages like tea, chocolate and coffee. For folks in their youth and young adulthood, energy drinks are used for an immediate tonic during lengthy study sessions and hectic work schedules.
They guzzle down energy drinks, hoping they can stay awake longer, while fighting off nausea and light headedness from all the junk food and caffeine-loaded beverages. After awhile, they usually conk out form the heavy sugar crash and miss out on their schedule for the next day.
ENERGY DRINK BUZZ
One industry consulting firm – Beverage Marketing, says that energy drink sales have increased nearly 700% since 2001. In the US domestic market, the sales account for $5.6 billion, so we can see from these figures, energy drinks really are popular.
During 2007, 262 million gallons of energy drinks were drank in the US alone. Energy drinks are also very popular in other countries, many countries within Europe and Australia.
Within an average 8oz energy drink, there is approximately 80mg of caffeine, which is equivalent to a cup of coffee. Some drink companies though, have added up to 300 mg of caffeine to their energy drinks. If an energy drink contains mostly sugar and caffeine, it can be harmful to people. Young people must have some way to help them stay awake most of the night and finish their work or study if they want to.
Good Healthy Ingredients
There is another way for people to get an extra boost of energy and feel really good for hours at a time. Instead of drinking an energy drink that’s loaded with sugar and caffeine, they can have a healthy energy drink and get energy from natural ingredients.
Check the label on the can before purchasing a drink, and look out for nutrients that will give you natural energy boosts. Vitamins are one important nutrient, vitamins A, B, C, and D all support health, and are found in many vegetables and fruit. The body doesn’t store vitamins, so they should be consumed regularly so you don’t have vitamin deficiencies.
Even taking a small dose of vitamins will assist in you feeling good, if you are deficient in one of the vitamins. Most commonly, B1 to B12 will assist in improving the immune system, supporting metabolism and increasing energy levels, which is why B vitamins are often added to energy drinks.
Minerals are also a good nutrient to have in an energy drink. The body often craves for them because it can’t naturally produce plant sourced minerals. Calcium (for bone health), potassium and zinc are just a few minerals that should be taken each day. Because the body requires these minerals, manufacturers of orange juice sometimes add calcium, and iodine is added to table salt. To keep your body running in optimum condition, it needs a wide spectrum of minerals.
Other nutrients to look for are exotic things such as guarana, green tea, taurine and exotic fruits like the Mangosteen. Green tea is well known for it’s high antioxidant content, and so is the Mangosteen fruit. Mangosteen also has other essential nutrients and has restorative properties. The mangosteen pericarp (or rind) has been used in parts of Asia for many years, because of its healing properties.
As you can see, it’s sensible to look at what’s inside the can of an energy drink, before drinking it, so you can drink something healthy and get natural energy, while staying healthy and well. Healthy energy drinks still have the energy blend in addition to the healthy ingredients, so you get the almost instant boost that you’re looking for. The Verve energy drink is extra healthy because it contains a natural energy blend, plus vitamins, minerals, mangosteen, green tea and aloe vera.

I think this drink is more healthy compared to other energy drinks that have caffeine on them. I guess choosing fruits over caffeinated drinks is better.

I take energy drinks almost daily and have come to ask myself just by reading this informative article if it’s worth it. Not once did I try to look at the ingredients of any of the energy drinks. It’s good that there’s a better alternative to these high in caffeine energy drinks.

If I am going to spend money for an energy drink I want it to give me healthy energy, not a fake high that is probably doing me more harm than good. Thanks for this great information. We need to be aware and question..

Its great to hear about a healthy energy drink for once. I really appreciate how you informed us readers about what makes an energy drink healthy or unhealthy. As a pretty regular energy-drink drinker I am looking forward to seeing Verve energy drinks out on the shelvs.

And it’s not just the young people drinking energy drinks. I know a few other mothers like me who are running kids around, working, and all, who get run down. I was drinking some of the stuff that was pushed on TV but that stuff doesn’t give you real energy like drinks like Verve with natural ingredients. And as mom who is always trying to get the kids to eat better, you’d think I would have looked at those ingredients a long time ago. I have definitely been spreading the word among my girlfriends.
